The t rack i s t he ol d Masterlinks M.C. l ocation, the Mast erlinks being dissolved some t im e ago, but reorganized and rech art ered as a competition club t o be kn own as the San Di ego " Oilers ", form erly of Huntington B each. Don Math ews , a top expe rt , built and works hard at this true rider's course , fea t uring se ven t urns , two straightaways , one j ump and bi g swee pers . Working with Don i s Al Finan and his c rew of devot ed, hard wor king Oilers. A s adv ertised, the track was well wat ered. Last ac t, the L ady ' s P owder Puff . was a compl et e run-away for Ca rol Gooding on a Yamah a 80cc . A lthough the girls rod e on bigger bik es , 200cc . 125cc and 90cc . Carol' s reliable 80cc Yama ha sa w little compet iti on after th e starting flag. Sandy Ramsey on her Hodak a , show ed great i mprovement and strong dete rmi nation t o t ake th e second place honor s. A real contrast t o th e weath er on all the pr evious runs ! The day was bri ght and warm as I rolled int o San F ernando . Harley-Davidson , to sig n up for the Hidden Destination Run sponso red by the Valleymen M.C . Some 250 enthusi astic cyc list s were out i n full st rengt h and never found th eir way to th e valley Harl ey did better . A lso th e P arade th rough s hop fo r th e beginnin g of a full and th e City of Oj ai was a good way to eventf ul day .
