Th is left Sirk egia n to face Perry & Scotty. The drag strip curfew is 10 : 30 p.m. o n Saturdays and we were run ning over. At 10 :45 Sirk egian was read y but Per ry & Scotty wer e working a sweat to change plugs a nd o il for the final ru n. 10:55 a nd Mr. Hart. the Lio ns Drag Str ip director sai d we wo uld have to shut down and split the Top mone y or the re woul d be trouble wit h the city. just the n Sco tty sta rted ro lling for the "staging a rea" a nd Hart sa id " let's r un them ." Both bikes fired and pu lled up to the line. Whe n the light went gree n Sir kegian, o n the BSA. made a beautifu l jump start ove r the dou ble of Perry & Sco tty. but ha lf wa y do wn the two engines po ured out the ir powe r and mad e it to the lights first. Perry a nd Sco tty turned 149 mph a t 10.53 . Th at was' close bot h in the eli mi nat ions a nd the curfew ruling.
