BOX 26, member of MICUS, which is the FIM representative in the United States. We have obtained an extra-International License from the FIM to throw a genuine ~uropean Motocross using the Lebec area . .. Ballyhoo, bands, and babes got indoor short track racing off to a colorful start last Saturday night at the Long Beach Arena. A large crowd paid what must be a record purse for indoor short track events. The total divided among the riders came to over $2,300.00. Many spills, of all types , and long slides, jazzed up the show from start to finish. Steve Scott now holds the unofficial record for back-sliding on oval tracks. Out of town riders included experts from I llinois, Ohio, Penn. and Oregon. All will be back this coming Saturday night for the second and fina l try of the year. Fans can look for quite a bit more under the roof next year. There is even taU: of a five city circuit in the making that will get off the ground in 'm. Give a lot of credit to co-promoters Don Brymer and Bob Dowis. They tried to do everything right and to give the fans a new type of racing with fringe benefits. They succeeded. If you missed the show last week try and make it this Saturday. You'll get your money 's worth as the Kamikaze guys now have the experience and the know-how to make the final race even better.
