Turkey Hare Scrambles Sunday before last C. R. Gibson led the chase at the smoke bomb, but turned the wrong way and the lead was taken up by Larry Bergquist, with Ken Knudsen in hot pursuit Larry made a booboo in a sand wash, tore up a rear shock and gave the lead to Knudsen, the moustachiod dairy farmer, who held it to the end. Mike Patrick, running 3rd at the half way mark, moved up to finish in 2nd place. The loops, two of them, were each 40 miles around. One point of interest was Homer D. Knapp, riding a 1928 JD HarleyDavidson-rigid frame. suicide clutch and all. When he came into the pits, which he pitted himself, bike, gas can and Knapp all caught a fire.
