ROAD RACE
FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 1 / MAY 29-31, 2019
ROAD AMERICA / ELKHART L AKE, WISCONSIN
P64
Fong (50) tries valiantly to keep Beaubier in
sight but it was no use as the current number
one cleared off for an unchallenged win.
Fong's luck was about to turn pear-shaped as
he got together with Scholtz (black and gold
bike), taking them both down. Behind this,
Herrin and Wyman were going at it with Herrin
turning the tables on Wyman for an eventual
third place. Next came the first Stock 1000
rider, PJ Jacobsen, who looked at times like
he could challenge for the podium in fifth.
(Above) Dominic Doyle (25) raised a few eyebrows
in race one after taking pole position on his
Bartcon Racing Kawasaki, eventually heading home
defending champion and 2020 Junior Cup part-
timer Rocco Landers. It would only be by the tiny
margin of 0.078 seconds, a theme Landers would
have to get used to across the weekend. Third
went to Celtic Racing HSBK Kawasaki rider Samuel
Lochoff, a sizeable 27.464 seconds off the winning
duo. Doyle and Landers went at it again at the front
of the second Junior Cup race, and the result was
agonizingly the same for Landers, who came up just
0.007 of a second short of the race win.
