Triumph To Cut 400 Jobs Amid Covid-19 Pandemic T riumph is set to cut up to 400 jobs from its international roster over growing financial concerns relating to the Covid-19 pandemic. The British firm is expected to cut 240 jobs in mainland UK, marking a significant reduction in personnel from a company that has 2500 employees worldwide. "These are not only chal- lenging times for everyone as individuals, but also for the company," Triumph Motorcycles Chief Executive Nick Bloor said in a statement. "No business could have anticipated the scale of the coronavirus crisis and its economic consequences." At a time of year that is normal- ly its peak selling season, sales of 500cc and up motorcycles have declined between 40 and 65 percent in key markets like France, Italy, Germany, USA and the UK. "The pandemic has caused significant damage to the global motorcycle market, and, sadly, we have to respond and react accordingly as both a responsible employer and as a business that invests for the future," Bloor said. "These are not easy decisions to make, especially when indi- viduals' livelihoods are affected; however regrettably, the scale of impact of Covid-19 necessitates us to restructure now in order to protect the long-term health and success of the Triumph brand and business." CN Times are tough at Triumph at the moment. IN THE WIND P28
