I
TULARE continued
I
included those in the dash plus Eddie Wirth, Cal Rayborn, Mel Lacher,
Sammy Tanner,' and Sam Satterly.
This time Carleson paired with Mann
to lead off the line followed closely
by Nixon and Tanner, on one of
Nixon's Baltimore Triumphs. Mann
began to stretch his lead when Carleson dropped back, and a battle for
second developed between Nixon and
Carleson. Nixon won with Tanner
finishing fourth.
In the amateur class, fastest qualifier Paul Conserrerie, trophy dash
winner Chuck Palmgren, and fastest
heat winner Gene Romero diced for
the lead in the early laps before
Palmgren broke away and rode his
Triumph to an easy victory. Conserrerie finally shook Romero to take
. second place money.
Johnny Isaacs dominated the novice class all evening, winning his
heat, the dash, and leading the main
event until the last lap. He took the
yellow flag under full power but by
the time he reached the middle of the
first tu m, he had lost all steam and
coasted in with a sputtering engine.
He nursed his way down the back
chute, still in the lead, but was
passed by three riders in the last
tum and finished fourth. Mike Libby
was the lucky winner.
Sammy Tanner appeared on a Triumph for the first time in two years when
he borrowed one of Gary Nixon's spart T- l OD's for Tulare .
