He'll race on any track, under the sponsorship of any organization - so long as the competition is tough. Keeter, 21-year-old Santa Barbara cyclist, rides twice weekly in the American Cycle ASsociation (ACA) events- at Or ange County and South Gate speedways. He also rides his Montesa Dia blo in monthly As cot TT's and scrambles. In every type of race, he is a fairly consistent fro nt runner, having wo n races on almost every track he's ridden this year. Keeter's best performances include a victory in the 250cc class at the California championships in Salinas last month and a second place finish in the same class at the Prado Park national TT scrambles championships. &ca1Olt, Calli. 'Feets' Flies Fast for First in Fine 500cc Fray Chuck "Feets" Minert, one of the greatest scrambles riders in Southern California motorcycle history, rode out of the past and into the victory circle at Bay Mare, near Ventur a, Sunday. Minert won two of three 500cc expert moto crosses. finished second to Jim Bassey in the third, then won the big big sweepstakes despite starting behind the field. The sponsoring Scramblers Motorcycle Club ran a staggered start in the sweepstakes, placing Minert behind every rider except open expert winner Bill Riley. Feets passed everyone to win 'easily over open amateur winner Ron Kruseman and 500cc amateur winner Phil Brown. Riley finished back in the pack after winning three rough open expert motos over Jack Konle and Jim Stevens. Konle and Stevens each led the first two laps of one race before succumbing to Riley's late charge. The twin victories by Minert were part of a near-complete BSA sweep of the heavyweight events. Only Riley, on a Triumph, broke the BSA win streak. By contrast, the ligh tweight races produced a wide variety of w inning bike makes-Honda, Su zuki, Montesa and Bu ltaco. Big winners were J im Berry, who rode his Bultaco to an easy 250cc expert win, and Honda-mounted Gene Cannady, who swept t o victory in the 250cc novice main, then whipped the top amateurs and experts in the lightweight sweepstakes.
