IN THE WIND P26 Baylor Wins SC AMA East Hare Scrambles S herco's Grant Baylor won the co-sanctioned AMA East Hare Scrambles and Mid- East Hare Scrambles round in Laurens, SC, May 24. He put his mud-riding experience to good use in this one. West Virginia's Sam Evans (KTM) was the early leader of the Pro/AA class. But Evans gave way to Brody Johnson (Honda) during the first lap and looked as though he might hold on to take the win. But when a brief thunderstorm dumped two inches of rain in approximately 10 minutes, things started to unravel for Johnson. That's when Baylor came alive on the slippery racecourse and started to gain on Johnson. Baylor eventually caught and passed Johnson and went on to take the win over the Honda rider. Beta's Thorn Devlin, who was always lurking close be- hind in third place, ended up finishing there. Evans ended up finishing fourth while Jonathan John- son (Honda) rounded out the top five overall. The top B-class finisher was Nathan Dulaney of the B 200 class. In the morning race, Makenzie Tricker (KTM) and Rachel Gutish (Beta) fought it out for the win, with Tricker coming out on top by less than a minute over Gutish. Super Senior Patrick Tobine (KTM) was third overall. Caleb Lane won the Youth event with Clint Beshears and Colton Shields finishing second and third, respectively. Gavin Harwell (KTM) and Bently Sason (KTM) battled back and forth in the Pee Wee 50 class with Harwell coming out on top. Abram Shields was third. Kenneth Held OVERALL 1. Grant Baylor (She) 2.
