IN THE WIND P38 No Rossi/Lorenzo Petronas Team P etronas Yamaha team boss Razlan Razali has moved to quash rumors he plans to sign Valentino Rossi and Jorge Loren- zo for the 2021 season, reuniting the pair that last raced for the fac- tory Yamaha squad in 2016. Razali's team has a spot earmarked for Rossi, should he choose to continue racing in 2021 after he lost his ride in the Monster Energy Yamaha squad to Frenchman Fabio Quar- tararo, but has stated he intends to re-sign incumbent Franco Morbidelli—a close member of Rossi's inner circle and the first world champion to come from the VR46 Academy. "To reinforce the stability that exists in the team, I think it's im- portant to retain Franco," Razali said to Motorsport.com. "It is possible that we will close the re- newal (for Morbidelli) even before the first race." Rossi has previously stated he would wait for the first few rounds in 2020 to pass before deciding on his future, with factory Yamaha test rider Lorenzo adamant he's not considering a full-time return. CN Petronas Yamaha is not interested in reuniting Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Mir Stays At Suzuki J oan Mir will stay at the factory Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP team until the end of the 2022 season, it has been confirmed. Mir's confirmation comes a week following the news Alex Rins will also stay a Suzuki rider until the conclusion of 2022. 2017 Moto3 Champion Mir finished his rookie MotoGP season last year in a respectable eighth place overall, securing nine top-10 positions despite suffering an injury mid-season when he crashed at the Brno test. He returned to take a season-best of fifth at Phillip Island. "I'm extremely happy to sign with Suzuki for another two years," Mir stated. "It's really im- portant for me to continue because now I have more time to learn and more time to show my potential. Two years can go by quickly, but I am ready to arrive at a higher level, and we are working every day to make that happen." CN Happy camper: Mir will stay at Suzuki until the end of 2022.
