IN THE WIND P32 Rossi Plans To Race In 2021 V alentino Rossi has used the interview broadcast on Cycle News to state he plans to race in 2021, where he will likely be racing in the Petronas SRT outfit by swapping places with Fabio Quartararo. The Italian says he has the motivation to continue but won't get the 'five or six' races he had initially hoped for to make a deci- sion on his future. "I am in a difficult situation be- cause, like I said, my first option is to try to continue," said Rossi. "I have enough motivation and I want to continue. It's very impor- tant to understand the level of competition because especially in the second part of last year we suffered very much, and too many times I was too slow, and I had to fight outside of the top five. In my mind, I had another year with the factory team, and I needed time to decide. For me, I need like five or six races, with the new chief mechanic, and some modifications in the team to un- derstand if I can be strong. "The problem is that there's no racing. So, with the virus, we cannot race. So, I will have to decide before racing because in the most optimistic situation we can race in the second half of the season, so August or September we hope. But I have to make my decision before. But anyway, I want to continue, but I've had to make this decision without any races. "It's not the best way to stop because the situation is that maybe we don't race in 2020. So, it's fairer for me to do an- other championship and stop at the end of the next, so I hope to continue in 2021." CN Valentino Rossi thinks he'll stay on for 2021. No Early MotoGP Berth For Marini L uca Marini believes the Covid-19 pandemic has squashed any hopes he had of joining the MotoGP class for 2021. The half-brother to Valentino Rossi, Marini sug- gested MotoGP teams will likely want to keep the status quo in terms of rider line-ups, rather than take a gamble on riders from Moto2. "If I were a MotoGP team, I would try to leave things as they are at the moment," Marini told mo- torsport.com. "I am not in a hurry, sincerely; I like Moto2," Marini added. "I think it is a category that is growing a lot, increasing its value both because of the talent of the riders and the level of the bikes. This is something that I really like and it is also important for my future growth. "The goal to get to MotoGP definitely remains, but I have to stay focused on Moto2 and get great results, because in the end it is only with the results that you can move forward." CN Luca Marini says he's happy in Moto2 and in no hurry to get to MotoGP.
