Sylvain Guintoli: Using The Rear Brake
S
ylvain Guintoli is going full gas on his You-
Tube videos right now, and in a matter of
months, the former WorldSBK Champion has
become one of the leading authorities on what it
takes to go fast on the racetrack.
Guintoli is Suzuki's current MotoGP test rider
and the man largely responsible for taking the
Ecstar Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP machine from
a mid-field runner to one that can consistently
challenge the front runners in the hands of Alex
Rins and Joan Mir.
We're huge Sylvain Guintoli fans here at Cycle
News because the man has an almost unbeatable
resume for the average YouTuber but he breaks
down the information on track riding very well. And,
because he's ridden and raced everything from
two-stroke 250GP racers to Superbikes to MotoGP
and World Endurance, he can turn the knowledge
into entertaining snippets of information riders of
any level can consume and benefit from.
The latest video he's posted is on using the rear
brake on track. This is an incredibly important tech-
nique to learn and understand, and he also informs
you as to why you may not want to use it.
If you have any ambition to improve your lap
times, be it in a track day or MotoAmerica, this
video is worth your 10 minutes. CN
