The Why And How Of Training On Dirt
V
alentino Rossi's famed ranch is
probably the never-never land of mo-
torcycle racing, a playground where the
very best riders in the world hone their
skills in time for the next grand prix.
Rossi has always been a devotee
of dirt track training, first pioneered by
Kenny Roberts with his legendary ranch
in California that was the cornerstone of
America's MotoGP success in the 1980s
and 1990s. Rossi's ranch, located in the
hills of Tavullia, Italy, is a behemoth, with
twin ovals, a TT course and all manner of configu-
rations available to the very select group of riders
allowed to train there.
In this video, Rossi takes us behind the locked
gates and shows us the line around his famous
training facility, with appearances from brother
Luca Marini, and fellow GP riders Stefano Manzi,
Andrea Migno and Marco Bezzecchi. CN
Rins Signs For Two More Years
A
lex Rins has put pen to paper
and signed for another two
years with the factory Suzuki Ec-
star MotoGP team, keeping him
in the Japanese company's lineup
until the end of the 2022 season.
Rins enjoyed his most suc-
cessful MotoGP season in 2019,
taking two wins including his
maiden victory at the Austin Mo-
toGP and a stunning last corner
attack on Marc Marquez to win
the British MotoGP at Silverstone.
"My wish was to continue with
Suzuki and finally this is what
I did. I believe that the project
has the potential to be a winning
one, I have the desire to win,
and so we match perfectly," Rins
said. "It's the perfect place for
me, and we are working hard
all together to get big results.
In this very moment [Covid-19]
the whole world is facing an
unexpected situation that affects
pretty much all countries and we
need to be patient and see how
it evolves. We will make our-
selves ready for when we will be
called to start racing, whenever
this will happen." CN
Alex Rins won't be
going anywhere for
at least two years.
