P100 50 Years Ago MAY 4, 1970 LOOKING BACK We tested Yamaha's latest off-road weapon, the IT425G, which was pictured in action on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago... Scot Harden and Brent Wallingsford teamed up to win the Las Vegas 400... We covered the Tri-Cross World Mini Gran Prix at Saddleback. Erik Kehoe and Mike Healey were some of the big winners... Wayne Rainey won the Expert main at Ascot Park... Frank Stacy won the ISDT Qualifier at the John Zink Ranch in Oklahoma... Wes Cooley won the AMA Superbike Championship round at Charlotte. 40 Years Ago APRIL 30, 1980 Dave Aldana was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago for winning the 75-mile TT in Sacramento, though the photo was taken of Aldana during TT action a few days earlier at Ascot Park... Rich Thorwaldson had everything go his way at the SVMC Hare & Hound in Cornel Corners, California. He battled his way to the overall victory... Bob Grossi rode a Husqvarna to victory at the CMC North CZ MX Series in Plymouth, California. Grossi won the series championship and a new CZ motorcycle that came with it. (Left) Tim Staab (pictured) and teammate Johnny Campbell took second at the Terrible's Town 250 20 years ago. Kurt Hough topped a talent-packed field at the Morrison ISDE Qualifier in 1990.
