IN THE WIND P34 Sherco's FactoryOne Mototrials Team signed 15-year-old Willem Myers to its professional Mototrials team. Sherco Locks In First U.S. Trials Pro F actoryOne Mototrials an- nounced its first professional rider, Willem "Will" Myers. The 15-year-old from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, will be competing in his first full year as a profes- sional at the NATC. Team Manager Christy Wil- liams-Richards said, "I am super pumped to see Will break out in the Pro Class. I was able to see Will ride at the Youth Nationals in 2016 before taking time off, and I said, 'that kid is going pro.' Now four years later, he's on my team, and he's in the pro class. The first year is usually tough for pro rid- ers, but I think we'll see big things from the one they call 'Meatball.'" Myers' resume includes: 2017 West Coast Junior Champion, 2018 125 Expert National Cham- pion, 2018 East Coast Youth Champion and 2019 Expert Na- tional Champion. "I am very happy to be with the FactoryOne Mototrials team again for the 2020 season," said Myers. "I am grateful for the opportuni- ties they have presented me to advance my trials career. This is going to be an exciting season, and I'm eager for it to get under- way." Meyers will be riding a Factory Scorpa 300. Scorpa is a sister company of Sherco. CN No Decision Made Yet On Road Atlanta MotoAmerica M otoAmerica says it is continuing to assess the situation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the opening round of the series, scheduled for April 17-19 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, and will make decisions in a timely manner based on the safety and well-being of its fans, rac- ers, teams and all support personnel. MotoAmerica says it will be following directives from several entities, including national, state and local govern- ments, as it moves closer to its events. "Although we all want to race motorcycles, there are more important things happening in the world and MotoAmerica is taking the Coronavirus very seriously," said MotoAmerica in a March 17 release. "While we are hopeful of going to Road Atlanta and having our first race of the year as scheduled, we will only do so if the safety of our fans, riders and teams is not compromised. Things are chang- ing so quickly that it's not possible to make any decisions on Road Atlanta or any other rounds at this point. We will, however, make a decision as quickly as possible when the time is right. Safety is paramount to everyone at MotoAmerica, regardless if it is on-track or off-track. "Our intention now is the same as it has always been and that is to complete our 10-round 2020 MotoAmerica Series in a safe and successful manner." CN The MotoAmerica Road America round is still on. For now.
