Mat Mladin was featured on the cover 20 years ago. He made
history by being the first Australian to win the Daytona 200... Ricky
Carmichael also made history by winning his career-first 250cc
Supercross at Daytona and soundly beating defending Supercross
champ Jeremy McGrath. Travis Pastrana also won his first-ever
125cc Supercross race at Daytona... Terry Poovey won the Daytona
Short Track... After winning it for the first time 10 years earlier, Randy
Hawkins again topped the Alligator Enduro.
(Left) Malcolm Smith waits it out to see what place he and his
teammate, Whitey Martino, got at the Mint 400 50 years ago.
