knee on Monday, March 9. Smith
has struggled since the 250SX East
opener and was recently called back
to California to start riding and testing
with his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/
Kawasaki team instead of doing it at
home in North Carolina.
DISPARITY
TLD/Red Bull KTM's Pierce Brown
barely made it into the 250SX main
event after he fell early in the 250SX
LCQ, but he clawed his way into the
main, finishing third in the LCQ. Then
he finished a solid sixth in the main
event. However, the fastest lap times
for the top five in the main event—Gar-
rett Marchbanks, Chase Sexton,
Jeremy Martin, RJ Hampshire and
Shane McElrath—were approximately
three seconds faster than anybody
else in the field, including Brown.
FRENCH FILL IN
With its entire 450 team sidelined with
injuries, the JGR/Yoshimura Suzuki
Factory Racing Team recruited French
Arenacross standout Charles Lefran-
cois for the Daytona race and other
select races. Lefrancois is the 2020
UK Pro 450 Arenacross Champion,
and he also finished second in the
2018 and 2019 German Supercross
Championship. At Daytona, a track
that probably didn't suit his style very
well, Lefrancois struggled in his new
environment, finishing 14th in his heat
and ninth in the LCQ.
CIANCIARULO ON
THE MEND
Adam Cianciarulo, who broke his col-
larbone at the Arlington Supercross,
says he is hopeful to be back on the
track again at the Seattle Supercross.
He said on social media: "My goal
right now is to be back racing by
Seattle. With this type of injury,
stability wise you can come back
really quickly—as I'm sure you've
seen other riders do in the past. At
this point, in my situation, we want
to limit the risk and make sure the
bone is strong when I do return. Do-
ing what I can right now to improve
so we can pick up right where we
left off! See you soon."
