IIIMY OWN RACE:
94 KEN ROCZEN
2ND 450SX
Ken Roczen has only ever finished on
the podium at Daytona one other me,
and this was his best finish ever at the
race. "I kind of sucked in the middle a
li le bit," Roczen said. "I kind of tried
to find my groove, and switched up
some lines that didn't really work out,
and then a er he [Eli Tomac] passed
me, we kind of yo-yo'd a li le bit there.
I really tried to put in a hard lap again
on that last one, because we were defi-
nitely close, but the track just deterio-
rated so much, and as soon as you try
to swap lines around a li le bit, it can
help you, or it can bite you. So I pped
over there, and that was a bummer,
but overall I'm pre y happy with my
riding... This is the closest I've been to
a win here at Daytona. We're just going
to carry on."
1 COOPER WEBB
3RD 450SX
Cooper Webb won his heat race and
was hoping to do the same in the main
event, but it wasn't to be. "We just got
beat, flat-out," Webb said. "So, we'll
go back to the drawing board. I felt like

in second, a li le ways back—and Eli
[Tomac] was able to get me, and I start-
ed making a lot of mistakes. [I] let him
get away, and kind of lost that tow. We
But this is Daytona, Eli Tomac's
bread and butter. He'd won the
race three of the last four years.
So if he had a bad night at Dayto-
na, things could look pretty dire in
terms of his chances at the 2020
championship.
He didn't. However, it started
off that way after Tomac got off
to another bad start in the main,
while Roczen opened up a big
lead up front. But, as he has done
so many times before, Tomac
somehow managed to charge his
way through the pack and catch
and pass the leader, Roczen, for
the win. It was a fantastic ride by
Tomac, who is seeking his first
450SX Championship.
