Rookie Jo Shimoda has improved
by leaps and bounds between the
off-season last year and the first few
rounds of the 2020 250SX East Series.
In the off-season, he was reportedly
five seconds per lap off the pace of the
top guys on the team in supercross,
and in the first two rounds, he finished
10th. In Atlanta, he charged forward
from outside the top 10 off the start to
slam his way past Garre Marchbanks
for fi h at the end of the race for his
first-ever top-five finish.

Jus n Barcia has been on the gas
over the last few weeks, but his starts
haven't been any good at all. But he's
been able to pass a lot of racers from
mediocre starts. In Atlanta, he came
from outside the top 10 to finish sec-
ond, even a er he and Eli Tomac ran
into each other a few mes early on
in the race. "I made a good, clean pass
on him, and then he just pounded into
me; got me pre y good," Barcia said. "I
was not happy with that racing, but all
in all, I put that aside, charged through
