son who clocked two hours, 39
minutes and seven seconds.
For Wasson, his first triumph
since round six last year seemed
long overdue, but it was by no
means a lock for more than half
the race.
"The four of us pretty much
battled until the pits [at the end of
loop one], and then me and Dal-
ton battled until probably mile 58,
59," the Motul/Kenda/Fly Racing
430 RR-mounted rider said. "He
ended up blowing a corner and I
was able to get around him. We
swapped spots probably like four
or five times on the second loop."
After the unusual electrical
issue that dropped him to the
back of the pack at round one,
Wasson said, "I knew that it was
a fluke deal. All my work is paying
off. I wasn't any bit discouraged
at all; I knew I just had to come
back strong at [this] one and not
let it get into my mind."
TJ's Cycles KTM rider Ryan
Grantom was fourth overall and
first Texan in only his second
National H&H, with Johnny
Campbell Racing (JCR) Honda's
Preston Campbell fifth and just
two seconds behind.
Pearson Farms Racing KTM's
Axel Pearson dueled with Kamo
Realty KTM rider David Kamo
most of the race and ended sixth,
with Kamo having to settle for
seventh after a big crash on the
second loop while running fourth.
KTM of Aspen's Clayton Ger-
stener rebounded from a poor
start to finish eighth ahead of
Beta support rider Cole Co-
natser, the Pro 250 winner for
the second straight round. Nic
Garvin rounded out the top 10
overall on his Champion Adven-
tures CRF450L.
As for Roberts, the news that
he was the new points leader
with 43 came as a surprise,
though his 4-3 finishes in the
first two rounds do make him the
most consistent. "I didn't expect
that one!" the IMS/HBD Graph-
ics/Klim 430 RR rider said. "I'm
stoked. I feel like I rode really
good in that one."
Shirey is second in points at
35 via his 11-2 finishes. After that,
it gets really tight as Wasson now
finds himself in a five-way tie for
third in points (30) with Argubright,
Kamo, Campbell and Pearson.

lead changes as the
men, the top three
stayed fairly close
with Tarah Gieger the
