IN THE WIND P40 Devlin Wins East Hare Scrambles Opener T he opening round of the SRT AMA East Hare Scrambles Championship, presented by Beta, kicked off in Union, South Carolina, February 16, an area that is starting to be known as the winter off-road capital of the world, with the NEPG, FGSE and now the AMA East Hare Scrambles all ramping up here in February, and the GNCC Cham- pionship fires up next weekend here, as well. But this weekend was all about the EHS Championship opener that was hosted by the Mid-East Hare Scrambles Series. Once again, Buren and Sheila, and their dedicated crew put on a phenomenal event. The day started out with ap- proximately 30 Peewee 50s fol- lowed by 100 Youth. The weather held up great for them, but when the Morning C event lined up, the cloud cover was increasing. A few minutes before the green flag was thrown, it began to drizzle, and before the last nov- ice left the line (250 in total), it was a full downpour. Many pulled off after completing the first lap. Others motored on. Last year's Pro Women number-one Rachel Gutish took the holeshot in her class and would eventually take the morning overall.
