Devlin Wins East Hare Scrambles Opener
T
he opening round of the SRT
AMA East Hare Scrambles
Championship, presented by
Beta, kicked off in Union, South
Carolina, February 16, an area
that is starting to be known as
the winter off-road capital of the
world, with the NEPG, FGSE
and now the AMA East Hare
Scrambles all ramping up here in
February, and the GNCC Cham-
pionship fires up next weekend
here, as well.
But this weekend was all about
the EHS Championship opener
that was hosted by the Mid-East
Hare Scrambles Series. Once
again, Buren and Sheila, and
their dedicated crew put on a
phenomenal event.
The day started out with ap-
proximately 30 Peewee 50s fol-
lowed by 100 Youth. The weather
held up great for them, but when
the Morning C event lined up,
the cloud cover was increasing.
A few minutes before the green
flag was thrown, it began to
drizzle, and before the last nov-
ice left the line (250 in total), it
was a full downpour. Many pulled
off after completing the first lap.
Others motored on. Last year's
Pro Women number-one Rachel
Gutish took the holeshot in her
class and would eventually take
the morning overall.
