Harley-Davidson And Indian Facing Off
I
ndian Motorcycle has laid down
the challenge to Harley-David-
son at the Daytona Bike Week in
the "Challenger Challenge."
Indian is inviting all riders to try
out the new Indian Challenger
head to head with the Harley-
Davidson Road Glide Special,
which the company says is a
superior machine, and you can
guess who had a problem with
this, Harley-Davidson.
Over the weekend, an unoffi-
cial advertisement posted on Jon
B's—otherwise known as the GM
of Global Brand Management
at the Harley-Davidson Mo-
tor Company—account, stating
"Honestly, did you spend your
youth dreaming about owning a
Polaris?" You can see the adver-
tisement by clicking here.
It's a return shot to some of
the videos Indian has been push-
ing out lately of the Challenger
going head-to-head with Indian
ambassadors Carey Hart and his
buddy, Big B, where they use
both bikes to tow a taco truck
and face off in a drag race (you
can see both videos by clicking
here and also sign up for the
challenge. This is still a bit of
tongue-in-cheek fun, but there is
bad blood between Indian and
Harley. Especially as the former
has seriously encroached on
the latter's large-capacity cruiser
market share since being taken
over by Polaris Industries back
in 2011.
Anyone going to Daytona Bike
Week and participating in the
Challenger Challenge, please
