SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 5 / FEBRUARY 1, 2020 RINGCENTRAL COLISEUM / OAKL AND, CALIFORNIA P58 450SX In the Oakland 450SX main event, the stage was set for a showdown right off the start, with Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) leading the field in front of Tomac and his teammate and peren- nial fast-qualifier Adam Cianciarulo, and Red Bull KTM's defending champ Cooper Webb. Cianciarulo went by Tomac right away and tried to find his way around Roczen but with no success. Instead, he gave way to Tomac, who made an aggressive but clean pass on his teammate, seven laps into the race. Then Tomac set his sights on the leader, Roczen, who appeared to be headed to another victory–but it was still early in the race. IIIMY OWN RACE: 15 DEAN WILSON 7TH 450SX Dean Wilson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) looked strong in Oakland on his way to his best finish so far of 2020. "I had a rough day all day, just one thing a er another, and had to go to the LCQ," Wilson said. "I actually s ll got a good jump in the main event, but I spun on the plas c [start-gate cover]. I've been working on my speed a lot the first couple laps, and I just started shoo ng every gap to pass people. I got right behind Jason [Anderson], and we've been riding a lot together during the week, and I just tried to stay with him, so that's what I did. It's so much be er ge ng up there with those guys early in the race. By the third lap I gapped the pack a lot. It wasn't a great start, but I worked my way up to seventh, and I'm happy with that, because I've been working my bu off to get back on my two feet again, and not seeing results. It sucks to try so hard and not see any results." 52 AUSTIN FORKNER 2ND 250SX It's not o en Aus n Forkner gets passed while leading, but that's what happened in Oakland. However, Forkner didn't lose any championship ground, and he trails Ferrandis by 10 Roczen couldn't hold on to an early lead. Cooper Webb came on strong in the second half of the race, passing Roczen in the final turn for second place.
