Another X Games Gold for Doug Henry
D
oug Henry added to his X
Games medal collection
at the 2020 X Games Aspen,
where he raced the Para Snow
BikeCross and came away with
gold, amounting to his eighth
career medal in three X Games
sports. Henry broke away from
the pack early in the race aboard
his Monster Energy Yamaha
YZ450F-powered Yeti SnowMX
mount to take a commanding
win, the 50-year-old demonstrat-
ing he still has the championship-
winning spirit that put him in the
AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
Early in the race Henry had
a bobble over a double, nearly
crashing as he veered off course,
but he managed to keep it upright
and get back on the track without
losing the lead. He went on to
stretch his lead over the field to 15
seconds by the checkered flag.
Brandon Dudley and Leighton
Lillie joined him on the podium for
silver and bronze, respectively.
Cody Matechuk, also aboard
a Monster Energy Yamaha, took
his third-straight X Games gold
in the Wendy's Snow BikeCross
final, followed by Yanick Boucher
and Jesse Kirchmeyer. Former
supercross racer Josh Hill joined
in the fun as well but fourth place
was all he could muster after get-
ting out to a bad start.
In the Adaptive Snow Bike-
Cross class, Mike Schultz took
the big win, followed by Kevin
Royston and Kolleen Conger.
(The Adaptive class is for ath-
letes with prosthetics whereas
the Para class is for paraplegic
competitors). CN
Doug Henry
captured yet another
gold medal at the
Winter X Games.
