VOLUME 57 ISSUE 2 JANUARY 14, 2020 P59
MCADOO OUT
Cameron McAdoo (Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki) had
a solid ride at Anaheim 1, coming
through from a start outside the top
10 to finish a strong sixth, and he
was fourth in the first daytime quali-
fying session despite going down
and having his motorcycle land on
him. He was short of breath but
got his O2 levels back up where
they needed to be and attempted
to ride the final qualifying session.
But he felt something was wrong
and went to the hospital, where he
was diagnosed with a collapsed
right lung and a partially collapsed
left lung. They sedated him and put
chest tubes in, and he's hoping to
get out of the hospital by Monday.
Chances are he'll be out for a while
until his lungs recover.
BRAYTON GETS IN
THE HARD WAY
Justin Brayton (Honda HRC) DNF
the second 450SX heat race at
about the halfway point due to
technical issues with his factory
Honda CRF450R. The team took
the bike back to the hauler and
swapped the engine out, which
wasn't an easy feat consider-
ing there was approximately 20
minutes between his heat race
and the 450SX LCQ. In the LCQ,
he started on the outside, then
passed early leader Chad Reed
on his way to the win. He ended
up eighth in the main event.
RHYTHM NATION
Just after the start in St. Louis
there was a long rhythm section
with multiple options for how to
attack it, and this led to a lot of
carnage in the area throughout
the night, especially on the starts.
In the 250SX West main event,
Alex Martin (JGR/Yoshimura
Suzuki Factory Racing) got a
little out of shape, which caused
Michael Mosiman to swerve left
and collect defending series
champ Dylan Ferrandis (Monster
Energy/Yamalube/Star Racing
Yamaha). Mosiman and Ferrandis
went down hard. Ferrandis got up
first, then went into the mechan-
ics' area to get his bike checked
out before continuing the race,
finishing an eventual 12th. Mosi-
man never really recovered and
finished two laps down in 20th
place. "I actually felt pretty good,
better than last weekend," Mosi-
man said. "There was carnage in
the first rhythm section, and I got
bumped and then landed on and
that was just kind of the beginning
of the end. I'm pretty stoked to get
out of St. Louis healthy and on to
the next round."
SO SICK
There appears to be bug going
around the AMA Supercross pits.
Zach Osborne was really sick prior
to Anaheim 1, and the illness car-
ried through Wednesday after the
event. His training partner, Cooper
Webb (Red Bull KTM) didn't have
the illness hit him until the day of
Anaheim 1, and while he managed
to tough out a third-place finish, the
illness hammered him all week and
he struggled in St. Louis, where he
finished 12th. But it's not just limited
to the KTM/Husky folks, because
Monster Energy Yamaha's points
leader Justin Barcia also fell ill dur-
ing the week and even surprised
himself by finishing second in St.
Louis despite how he felt.
