direction, cut off a corner of the
track and pulled in front of Ferran-
dis, causing the defending champ
to take evasive action.
Cooper ended up taking the
win over Ferrandis, while Forkner
finished third but was docked two
positions by the AMA/FIM after
the race.
"I was putting pressure on
Austin [Forkner], trying to see
where I was stronger and could
put a pass on him, and he ended
up making a mistake earlier than
grabbed the holeshot in the main
event, while Ferrandis started
midpack. Forkner held steady out
front while Ferrandis' teammate
Cooper kept him honest, and
Ferrandis moved into third. With
a handful of minutes remaining in
the main, Forkner made a costly
error, jumping into the Tuff Blocks
and nearly crashing, which sent
Cooper into the lead. As Ferran-
dis went by Forkner, Forkner's
motorcycle was pointed the oppo-
site way, and he continued in that
IIIMY OWN RACE:
ng through the first round," Mosiman
said. "So, I just kind of struggled all
day. I struggled ge ng into a groove,
struggled rolling my corners—which
is my strength—and then tried to get
too much when it wasn't there. I got
a fourth-place start in the main from
the far outside, got shuffled back a bit,
then just tried to click off my laps. I'm
really not proud of how I rode based
on how I've been riding, so I'm a li le
bit disappointed, but top-five was my
goal to get out of A1. But I watched
the 450 main, and I was so comforted
because those guys were looking like
squirrels! Some of the mistakes I was
making, I was like, 'Okay, everyone was
making those mistakes.' Overall, there's
stuff to build on, but I'm not panicked
or anything. We're solid."
Dylan Ferrandis was the favorite going into the 250SX West main, but a bad start
kept him off the top step of the podium. He was not happy with second place.
