IIIMY OWN RACE: and he was definitely a pre-race favorite to win Anaheim 1 again. However, the rough, ru ed track made it clear to Roczen and his team that they s ll have some work to do on his motorcycle set- up. "We had some struggles out there," Roczen said. "I think, for safety reasons over the years, I've set my bike up really s ff [when he had his legendary crash at Anaheim 2 in 2017, part of the reason for that crash has been blamed on his suspension being too so ], but I think we just went too far now. It was borderline unrideable for me out there. So that definitely didn't make it easy on me, but the good news is that we found the limit of things, and we just have to back it off a bit. I'm surprised we got sixth with the way I rode, and even so, with a li le bit of luck, if I could've go en by [Vince] Friese earlier in the race, I could've been on the podium no problem, so we'll take the lessons and move on to St. Louis." 10 JUSTIN BRAYTON 8TH 450SX Honda HRC's Jus n Brayton got the first gate pick for the main event a er winning the fastest heat race of the night, and then while running in the top five, he had a run-in with Jason Anderson and went down, eventually finishing eighth. "I won my heat, and I felt good, but the main was super- gnarly," Brayton said. "The turns, they got so ru ed that we were basically turning underneath the berm, so that was pre y strange, and that messed up the run into the next sec on. Overall, I ran top-three for over half the race and ended up crashing when [Jason] Anderson cleaned me out, and I ended up eighth. It might have been par ally my fault, I don't know. No harm, no foul." SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 / JANUARY 4, 2020 ANGEL STADIUM / ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA P60 (Above) Webb was feeling under the weather all day but somehow still managed to finish out the night on the podium, passing Ken Roczen along the way.
