IIIMY OWN RACE:
9 ADAM CIANCIARULO
2ND 450SX
Adam Cianciarulo turned heads all day
at Anaheim 1. He qualified first dur-
ing the day, over a half-second faster
than second-place—his teammate Eli
Tomac—and led a decent chunk of
the 450SX main event before finishing
second in his 450SX debut. "I made
some quick moves early, and when you
get a clear track, and you're not that
worried about the guy behind you, you
can ride your own lines, and on a track
like this, that's everything," Cianciarulo
said. "But being a 250cc guy [up un l
now], I've never seen a track like this. I
mean, in the bowl turns, we were turn-
ing down on the flat! I've never done
that in my life! Not in prac ce, not as
an amateur, never. And I don't really
ride in first gear very much, but I was
in first gear a lot out there. It's crazy
how slow you feel at the end of those
mains. I was locked in and felt great,
but I thought I had to do that triple-
triple that Barcia was doing, and I was
doing it, and one lap I got just a ny
amount of wheelspin, and that was all
it took for me to come up short, and
he got by."
