Austria Best
MotoGP of
The Year
T
he myWorld Motorrad Grand Prix
von Osterreich, held at the pic-
turesque facility of the Red Bull Ring
at Spielberg in Austria, has taken
the Best MotoGP of the Year award
for the second time in four years.
Over 200,000 spectators flocked
to the Red Bull Ring to see an epic
tussle between Marc Marquez and
eventual winner Andrea Dovizioso, and
show their support for hometown manufac-
turer KTM.
"The Best Grand Prix of the Year is
something that's very important for Dorna
and IRTA," said International Race Teams
Association (IRTA) President, Herve Pon-
charal. "As President of IRTA it means I
represent all of the teams, and this is really
a reflection of the whole paddock–from
the mechanics and managers to the riders,
in the case of IRTA–and it was almost a
unanimous decision to vote Spielberg as
the best GP of the year once again." CN
It's one hell of
a party, and
for the second
time Austria
has won
MotoGP of the
Year.
Ducati Raises Funds
For Carlin Dunne
Foundation
D
ucati North America held a special
fundraising event in New York during
the weekend of the city's leg of the Pro-
gressive International Motorcycle Show for
the Carlin Dunne Foundation, in memory
of the late racer who died while competing
at the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
More than 200 guests raised over $60,000 for
the Foundation, which was created to help athletes
diagnosed with, or at risk for, CTE, concussion
syndrome and traumatic brain injury, and to provide
mentorship programs for up-and-coming riders
while developing a network focused on providing
tools necessary to succeed, including programs
geared to help rookies navigate the racing business
and hone their skills in the extreme sports arena.
Guests who attended the Manhattan event on
December 5 were able to share memories of Dunne
during an evening of camaraderie which featured
a retrospective of Dunne's career given by Ducati
North America CEO Jason Chinnock. During the
silent auction, unique items were donated from part-
ners at Bell Helmets, Alpinestars, Cardo Systems,
Yeti and Spider Grips. Personal signed items were
donated by former World Champions Wayne Rainey,
Kenny Roberts and Eddie Lawson. CN
