MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Repsol Honda's Dani
Pedrosa was Lorenzo's
biggest challenger
in 2012 and he's
expected to do the
same in 2013.
turn on Marquez. Racing's boring again. Like the bad old days,
when Mick Doohan was so superior that he made everybody else
look pretty hopeless. He won
and won.
And so does Marquez, as the
year wears on.... Mugello by 15
seconds, Catalunya by 15 after
starting from the back of the grid;
Assen by a quarter of a lap. And so
on through Germany, Laguna, Indy
and Brno. Only in the wet at Le
Mans does he falter, crashing out
at the first chicane and taking two
Yamahas and a Ducati with him.
Then Silverstone, another triumph, an anomalous second at
Misano, and he ties up his first
championship at Aragon, with still
Sepang, Phillip Island, Motegi
and Valencia to come.
The battle for second was
fitfully interesting, although it
dropped to just the two Yamahas
in the latter half of the season,
when Pedrosa is sidelined by yet
another small but troublesome in-
jury. Crutchlow would have been
in it, but crashes are punishing
his score as he pushes his second-level Yamaha ever harder to
try and make up the mechanical
deficit.
