SCRAMP Scrapped As Managers
Of Laguna Seca
T
he Sports Car Racing Asso-
ciation of the Monterey Pen-
insula, more commonly known
as SCRAMP, will not manage
the affairs of Laguna Seca for
the first time since 1957, with the
management duties transferred
to A&D Narigi Consulting LLC to
the end of 2023.
SCRAMP was the group that
originally raised the money
to build Laguna Seca on land
owned by the U.S. Army, and
managed the racetrack ever
since even as it transitioned from
the Army to Monterey County.
It's been a messy marriage
between SCRAMP and Monterey
County, with the latter accusing
the former of mismanagement,
claims that were backed up by in-
dependent audits. In October this
year, the Monterey County Board
of Supervisors sent out a request
for new management proposals,
and received three—one from
SCRAMP, another from Laguna
Seca Management LLC and one
from A&D Narigi Consulting LLC.
"The most favorable and
aligned with what was sought by
the County was the proposal from
A&D Narigi Consulting, LLC,"
said a report from the Monterey
County Board of Supervisors.
"County staff has negotiated
an agreement with A&D Narigi
Consulting, LLC, as attached,
for Board consideration. While
all firms were considered, A&D
Narigi Consulting, LLC brought
a unique local business/hospi-
tality approach to the forefront
and is most closely aligned with
the timeline and business model
required for future success.
Staff concluded that A&D Narigi
Consulting, LLC would be the
best firm to move LSRA to the
next phase. Staff and A&D Narigi
Consulting, LLC continue to be
committed to working with all vol-
unteer groups to value and honor
their continued service and spirit
of volunteerism at LSRA."
A&D Narigi Consulting LLC is
owned by John V. Narigi, who has
over 40 years of hospitality man-
agement experience but none in
the motorsports industry. CN
Laguna Seca's
management has
been taken over
by A&D Narigi
Consulting LLC.
