Anderson Tops S-X Open R ockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson competed in the Monster Energy S-X Open, the second-to-last round of the Australian Supercross Champion- ship, in Auckland, New Zealand, November 16. It comes as little surprise that the former AMA Supercross Champion came away with the victory, but it was a bit surprising that he had to work so hard for the overall win in the three-race format. Bad starts made things difficult on Anderson, who had to work his way to the front in all three races. In the first race, he fought his way around American rider Henry Miller, Dan Reardon, Luke Clout and finally Brett Metcalfe before taking the checkered flag out in front. Again, Anderson found himself buried in the pack in race two but wasn't able to overtake winner Clout this time and had to settle for second. In race three, Anderson, once again, had to come from behind, this time, though, he managed to pass Reardon late in the race to take the win and overall victory with 1-2-1 moto results. "I'm stoked to grab the win here in Auckland, the racing was super intense tonight. It's always a blast to come over here and race in front of these fans—I'll look to keep the ball rolling come Mel- bourne," said Anderson. Clout (4-1-4) took second overall, and Metcalfe (2-5-3) third overall. Points leader Justin Brayton took fourth overall and saw Clout steal away the points lead from the Honda rider. JGRMX/Yoshimura Suzuki's Joey Savatgy competed but didn't have much luck on the slick and tight race track, going 11-6-DNF on the night. American Josh Hill also raced but struggled, as well. Chad Reed showed up but came in nursing sore ribs. He fell early on and called it a night. KTM rider Josh Osby took the SX2-class win with a 1-2-3 score, followed by Chris Blose and Aaron Tanti.
