GasGas Forms MX, Enduro, Rally Teams T he Spanish manufacturer GasGas, which was re- cently purchased by the Austrian manufacturer KTM, announced it will be entering new disciplines of FIM racing starting in 2020. GasGas will now field teams in motocross and rally competi- tion, as well as enduro, and has signed big-name riders, such as Glenn Coldenhoff (motocross), Taddy Blazusiak (enduro) and female racer Laia Sanz (rally). GasGas will make its his- toric inaugural step into MXGP courtesy of an alliance with the Standing Construct squad, which formerly fielded KTM motorcycles. Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing is the very first works motocross grand prix team for the marque and will be made up of Coldenhoff and teammate Ivo Monticelli on MXGP machinery. Sanz will lead GasGas' effort in rally and Blazusiak in the WESS Enduro World Championship. "My team manager called me and told me about the opportu- nity for us to ride with GasGas, and right away, I was really honored," said Coldenhoff. "To reach the status of a factory team is a reward for all their hard work and professionalism. It is a really big step for the team; to have a factory behind you with all their support and resources. I am really looking forward to continue working with this great group of people at Standing Construct, and I am super-hon- ored and motivated to represent this new brand in the MXGP class." Blazusiak said, "I'm stoked to be part of this new adventure. I'd been with KTM forever, and they are well known for their work and their competitiveness, so this is a fresh direction for me, and it's a privilege to be the first rider of the new GasGas era." "GasGas is another fascinat- ing story for our motorsport department," Robert Jonas, VP Motorsports Offroad, said. "It is a strong and very recognizable brand, so it's exciting to see how we can take it into a new racing series." CN IN THE WIND P32 GasGas announced it will field full factory race efforts for the first time in motocross, as well as in FIM enduro and rally. Laia Sanz (pictured) is one of the company's new recruits for rally competition.
