I
t was fitting that the final round of the
Kenda AMA National Enduro Series ended
with a single second separating brothers
Steward and Grant Baylor at the finish, with
Steward getting his fourth win of the season
ahead of Grant, and his fourth AMA Champi-
onship. It was kind of a summary of how the
2019 season has gone, with the two combin-
ing to win nine of the 10 rounds.
Over 700 riders chomped at the bit to take
to the epic trail, a combination of the previ-
ous week's rain and the primo Alabama soil.
Once the race started, it was Steward that
struck first, winning the opening of six tests
by nine seconds over Grant.
Five-time enduro champ Russell Bobbitt
won test two, making just his third appear-
ance in the series this year on his Gnarly
Routes KTM.
Grant won test three, and at that point, it
was game on, as the two brothers wound up
accounting for every test win except the test
won by Bobbitt.
Heading into the final test, Grant led
Steward by four seconds. Waiting on their
respective minutes to start the test, Grant
told Steward, "You don't have to win to get
the championship" to which Steward replied,
"Yeah, but you beat me last week on a track
that I should have beat you on, so I'm going
