European sponsors, Redondi
returned to the U.S. and ended
up 20 seconds behind Stewart
in the Gorman race. "I'm looking
forward to being more in shape
and try to fight again like last
year for the WORCS series and
the [NGPC] next year," he said.
"I'm looking forward now to be
focused on this kind of racing.
This is what I love to do!"
That's a sentiment he shares
with 2017 series champ Bell who
said, "This was my first off-road
series [after retiring from pro mo-
tocross], so I'd like to come back
and try to win it again."
Ryan Surratt quickly worked
his way to fourth aboard his Mo-
toCutz KX450 ahead of Seeds,
Monster Energy Honda-mounted
Cole Martinez, Purvines Racing's
Tyler Lynn (the Pro II winner),
TBT Racing Kawasaki rider Ryan
Reina, CST KTM's Mitch Ander-
son, and 3 Bros. Husqvarna-
mounted Shane Logan (Pro II
runner-up) rounded out the top
10 overall.
A first-turn crash claimed
several victims off the Pro II start,
including 3 Bros. Husqvarna's
Ciaran Naran, the class points
leader going in. The crash left
him with a possible broken col-
larbone and zero points on the
day. Despite getting caught up
in the carnage, both Lynn and
Logan recovered nicely to go
1-2. Chaparral Motorsports/
Precision Concepts Kawasaki's
Clay Hengeveld, the 2018 class
champ, avoided the melee and
ended up third at the finish, 11th
overall. Unofficially for Naran,
Lynn now leads Pro II points with
166 to his 153.
