Rea Devours a Triple Treat At

onathan Rea wrapped the
2019 World Superbike Cham-
pionship season in style by taking
all three final race wins in Losail,
Qatar, October 26-27.
If you break down the 2019
WorldSBK season into three
parts, the first third belonged to
Alvaro Bautista, the middle third
mostly owned by Rea, and the
final third almost entirely all Rea's,
with (with Toprak Razgatlioglu,
Chaz Davies and Bautista supply-
ing some added spice).
The final result was a last-round
championship advantage of 165
points, from Rea to Bautista.
Rea has now won 88 WorldS-
BK races, with the next-best rider
Carl Fogarty with 59.
For Rea, his domination of the
Losail event began early, with a
Superpole win and then three
different races with three different
bike setups.
"Seventeen race wins this year
and two triples—Donington and
here—so this is special, super-
special," said Rea. "I am really
happy and content because to be
honest we never expected to get
beaten so bad in the beginning.
This weekend we changed the
base setup so many times, from
race one to Superpole to race
two. We turned the bike upside
down and each and every time
we had some positives and nega-
tives, so it just shows our bike is
working inside a good window."
With Rea scoring the final
points for the Manufacturers'
trophy to go green again, and
Bautista safe in second place
