Rea Devours a Triple Treat At Qatar WorldSBK J onathan Rea wrapped the 2019 World Superbike Cham- pionship season in style by taking all three final race wins in Losail, Qatar, October 26-27. If you break down the 2019 WorldSBK season into three parts, the first third belonged to Alvaro Bautista, the middle third mostly owned by Rea, and the final third almost entirely all Rea's, with (with Toprak Razgatlioglu, Chaz Davies and Bautista supply- ing some added spice). The final result was a last-round championship advantage of 165 points, from Rea to Bautista. Rea has now won 88 WorldS- BK races, with the next-best rider Carl Fogarty with 59. For Rea, his domination of the Losail event began early, with a Superpole win and then three different races with three different bike setups. "Seventeen race wins this year and two triples—Donington and here—so this is special, super- special," said Rea. "I am really happy and content because to be honest we never expected to get beaten so bad in the beginning. This weekend we changed the base setup so many times, from race one to Superpole to race two. We turned the bike upside down and each and every time we had some positives and nega- tives, so it just shows our bike is working inside a good window." With Rea scoring the final points for the Manufacturers' trophy to go green again, and Bautista safe in second place overall, Alex Lowes was the rider IN THE WIND P44 Jonathan Rea powers to his end- of-year holiday with another triple win.
