Dalla Porta was in the thick of it, and took the lead for the first time on lap nine. He would stay there to the end, at least over the line, but Suzuki got ahead at least once out in the country, and a pack of five went to the end. Just faded off the back John McPhee (Petronas Honda) was a lone sixth. Dalla Porta's points lead is not unassailable, with 75 points still available, but he has a significant comfort zone of 47, with 229 points to Canet's 182; then Arbolino 161, Ramirez 144 and McPhee 136. CN pit, after long-time race leader Tatsuki Suzuki was denied a home-race podium by a last- corners lunge by star rookie Celestino Vietti (SKY VR46 KTM), through from the back of the five-strong lead group. Suzuki led away from front- row starter Alonso Lopez (EG Honda) and pole qualifier Nico Antonelli (SIC58 Honda), but the comeback injury victim would soon drop away. Instead it would be rookie Sergio Garcia (EG Honda) taking up the pursuit of the leader, with Arenas, Canet, John McPhee (Petronas Honda) and Marcos Ramirez (Leopard Honda) all prominent in the fol- Lorenzo Dalla Porta took a crucial win, only his second of the year, to put him in the box seat for the Moto3 title.
