SUPERCROSS
MONSTER ENERGY CUP
MONSTER ENERGY CUP / OCTOBER 19, 2019
L AS VEGAS, NEVADA / SAM BOYD STADIUM
P58
In the second main event, it
indeed looked as though Tomac
might have another huge payday
but instead it was his turn to toss
it away when he highsided out of
the lead, which handed a solid
early lead to Stewart who went on
to win the race. Cianciarulo again
snagged second place, while
Tomac recovered for third.
Although the million dollars was
now wiped off the table, $100,000
was still up for grabs for the overall
winner. Tomac, Cianciarulo and
Stewart all had a shot at it going
into the final race. In fact, all three
riders were tied on points, essen-
tially meaning that whoever won
would take the dough.
Cianciarulo got the early lead
new number (9) a winning one,
becoming the first racer ever
to win all three classes (Super-
mini, Amateur and Cup) over the
course of the event's history.
CUP CLASS
Cianciarulo got the early lead in
the first of three main events but
fell and handed the eventual win
to Tomac, last year's million-dol-
lar winner. At this point, it looked
as though Tomac might do it
again! Cianciarulo fought back
to nab second, edging out third-
place finisher MotoConcepts/
SmarTop Honda's Malcolm
Stewart, who was racing again
for the first time since breaking
his femur in January.
