Our 2000 125cc Motocross Shootout was featured in issue number 40,
20 years ago. The winner after much debate was the Suzuki RM125…
We reported on the passing of 17-year-old flat track racer Toby
Jorgensen who succumbed to his injuries suffered at the Dallas Half
Mile on September 11, 1991. He passed away on October 1… Tadayuki
Okada won the 500cc GP at Phillip Island. Kenny Roberts Jr. had the
race win in the bag until his rear tire started to shred… Will Davis won
the Las Vegas Half Mile.
Scott Parker leading Jay Springsteen at the San Jose Mile was
pictured on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago. Parker took the
win and the 1989 Camel Pro Series Championship… A few days
earlier, Chris Carr won the half mile at Ascot… Kawasaki riders Jeff
Matiasevich and Jeff Ward were the big winners at the Steel City AMA
National MX. Matiasevich won the 125cc class and Ward the 500cc
class… Honda's RC30 highlighted
