OFF-ROAD
AMSOIL GRAND NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY SERIES
ROUND 10 / SEPTEMBER 15, 2019
JOHNSON FAMILY FARM / HARPURSVILLE, NEW YORK
P80
Ricky came into the race with
high expectations and had the
race been a quarter-mile shorter,
and he very well could have had
his first win of the season.
"We made some suspension
changes over summer break,
and it's been drastically better,"
said Ricky Russell. "I told the
boys coming into here, 'You
watch. It's going to happen.' We
proved it. We had a good ride.
We were up front all day, battling
for that lead."
Having won the race just be-
fore the summer break, Rock-
star Energy Husqvarna's Thad
Duvall was sitting second in the
standings, 43 points behind the
leader Russell, and hoping to
cut into that lead with another
win. After getting off to a slow
start, Duvall managed to pick up
the pace on the last two laps to
claim a third-place finish.
"I just struggled the first two
hours," said Duvall. "The bike
was a little off, and I just kept
crashing. I had a good lap, and
then I had a really, really bad lap.
The last hour, I figured it out and
was just full send. I was tired of
just riding around in fourth and
fifth. I was able to catch those
guys but just ran out of time."
Ben Kelley hasn't lost an XC2 Pro
race all year. His reward? The
2019 XC2-class Championship. He
clinched it in New York.
