OFF-ROAD
AMSOIL GRAND NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY SERIES
ROUND 10 / SEPTEMBER 15, 2019
JOHNSON FAMILY FARM / HARPURSVILLE, NEW YORK
P78
The victory was Kailub's sixth of the
year and the 60th of his career. The
nearest rider to Russell on the all-time
GNCC win list is Scott Summers with
46 wins. And Russell shows no signs of
slowing down.
"It's a huge accomplishment [to
reach a milestone 60 wins], and I'm
grateful for it, but it's not time to reflect
and look back on these wins yet," said
Russell. "Right now, I want to try to win
each race. I only get paid to win, so I
want to be up there and win the race
and keep collecting these wins."
Ricky Russell has been on an up-
ward trajectory since returning to the
series from an injury that kept him out
of the first four rounds. His runner-up
finish marked his best finish of the year.
"That last lap I made some critical
mistakes," said Ricky. "I crashed pretty
hard twice. I got back up to Kailub, and
he didn't know that I was right there
and I was able to sneak a quick pass
on him. It came down into this last field
around the pond. You can't make any
mistakes when Kailub's hot on your
heels. He got right back by me, and
I just had to follow him through the S-
turns to the finish. It was kind of frus-
trating because I felt like I had it."
Thad Duvall surged late in the race to
finish third but lost ground to points
leader Kailub Russell.
