Pole qualifier Alex
de Angelis crashed out
of both races, while

a three-bike tangle on
Saturday. Bradley Smith
and Mattia Casadei were
unhurt.
Kenny Foray and Eric
Granado also crashed
out of that race. On Sun-
day Sete Gibernau also
tumbled.
With a double-header
at Valencia closing the series, the

MotoE
Two races for the whistling new
FIM Cup series, but just one
winner, with Gresini rider Matteo
Ferrari inching Saturday's first
race, then running away with the
second.
The first day's close racing,
the top three over the line inside
six tenths, was for second place
on Sunday, with Tech 3's Hector
Garzo second on both occasions.
Saturday's third podium
finisher Xavier Simeon (Avintia)
crashed out on only the second
corner on Sunday, leaving the
battle to Mattia Casadei (Onget-
ta), Niccolo Canepa (LCR), and
Maria Herrera (OpenBank Angel
Nieto). They finished in that order
amazing," he said. "We didn't fin-
ish so many races this year."
Le Mans winner John McPhee
(Petronas Honda) came through
the remains of a big lead gang at
the end for a fine second, finish-
ing inches ahead of 2019 double
winner Tony Arbolino (Snipers
Honda).
It was a race of great attrition
and many crashes with 31 start-
ers and only 16 finishers.
A big loser was title contender
Aron Canet (Sterilgarda KTM),
with the leaders early on only to
retire with a misfire on lap four. He
pitted twice and tried to restart,
but eventually had to give up.
Jaume Masia (KTM) led three
laps, but was just out of touch
in fourth, while championship
leader Lorenzo Dalla Porta
(Leopard Honda) was fifth over
the line, but dropped to eighth
because of a late track-limits
transgression.
Matteo Ferrari took two entertaining wins in MotoE.
