GARDNER AND KTM?
Remy Gardner was offered a quick
move to the MotoGP class for next
season with the KTM factory team
to take the place of Johann Zarco.
But the 21-year-old son of 1987
500cc World Champion Wayne
apparently turned it down. The rider
was not able to confirm or deny the
offer, but while he hopes to move to
MotoGP in due course, it is thought
that he felt this was premature, and
also offered uncertain prospects.
He has confirmed he will stay in
Moto2 next year, with the same ON-
EXOX team, along with teammate
Tetsuta Nagashima, hoping to make
a serious title challenge.
YAMAHA'S CARBON
SWINGARM
Yamaha's new carbon-fiber swing-
arm—along with a new Suzuki-alike
twin-pipe exhaust the most visible
update—won praise from the factory
riders, as well as helping Vinales
secure pole position. "I am happy,"
said Rossi. "It felt good from the first
moment I rode it…more precise. It
is the first version, so we need to
improve it, but we will continue this
way." After repeated entreaties by
the factory riders, Yamaha is the last
team to fit a carbon-fiber swingarm,
an innovation pioneered several
years ago by Ducati. The M1's new
unit made a first appearance at the
tests at Misano in the break after
the British GP.
MOTO2 SEATS
Moto2 signings for next season are
adding up with several top riders
shifting teams. While current title
leader Alex Marquez will stay with
his current EG-Marc VDS squad,
Briefly...
easily. Marquez passed him into
the first corner, and the French-
man passed him back three cor-
ners later. The champion-elect
had to pull another very forceful
move to get where he needed
to be, and then to make sure
he was in the way for the rest of
the lap, the pair almost colliding
precise, but especially in the fast
corners."
Because of this he'd timed
his attack to be ahead through
the very fast Turn 11 at the end of
the straight, to be in a position
to block him at the last tight right
before the final two slow lefts.
But Quartararo didn't give up
Valentino Rossi nailed
another top five, but
couldn't get the podium
the crowd came to see.
