Lousiana's Trampas Parker was featured on the cover of Cycle News
30 years ago for winning the 125cc MX World Championship in France.
Riding under an Italian license, he was the first American-born rider to win
the crown. Americans Mike Healey finished third in the championship and
Bobby Moore fourth… Jay Springsteen won the Syracuse Mile… Kurt
Hough survived the heat to win the
Caney Creek National Enduro in
Texas… Dane Hans Nielsen won
the World Championship Speedway
Final in Germany.

Kevin Windham had the cover to himself 20 years ago for taking the
overall win at the 250cc U.S. Grand Prix at Budds Creek. Windham
came into the race fired up after Stefan Everts made some derogatory
comments about American MX riders a few days before the race.
Windham responded on the track… Carl Fogarty won the World
Superbike round at Hockenheim… Joe Kopp earned his first career
750cc Grand National win at the Dallas Mile… We tested Shane Watts'
1999 KTM 125 E/XC.
