Razgatlioglu suffered the same kind of tire drop as everyone, and had nothing left to push within the end but earned a podium. Lowes was fourth, win- ning a great fight with his good friend Leon Haslam. In the championship standings, Rea's two for- ward and one back podium steps in Portugal saw him grow his already strong lead to 91 points over Bautista, 490 to 399. Next round is Magny Cours September 27-29. There are two more rounds after that in Argentina and then Qatar. WorldSSP The crazy world of modern-day WorldSSP racing has two certain- ties, usually found in the shape of championship leader Randy Krummenacher (Bardahl Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) and his teammate Federico Caricasulo. Others have beaten them on occasion, but once again, this was an internal battle that would end up in a red flag, but the Bar- dahl team still took the WorldSSP championship three rounds early. With Krummenacher riding with a broken left big toe, it may have been a difficult race for him be- fore he even started, but having a potential victory rubbed out by a red flag must have stung even more. Caricasulo was finally given the win on the countback rules. So even though Krummenacher was leading when the flag came out, Caricasulo had led across the line earlier by a smidgeon and was awarded the race. The importance was evident, as Caricasulo is now only 10 points adrift with three rounds left. The early fight was between Caricasulo and Isaac Vinales (Kal- lio Racing Yamaha) until the latter slowed and then retired. Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) had started his weekend in relatively bad shape but ended up finishing third and only 0.312 seconds behind the winner. Raffaele De Rosa (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was again a strong challenger, but it was a leak from his bike that produced the red flag after he had imitated the flag-waving motion to the mar- shals, as he realized something was amiss. With De Rosa out, Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) was fourth. Krummenacher now has 193 points, Caricasulo 183 and Cluzel is almost certainly out of champion- ship-winning contention with 145. Gordon Ritchie WorldSBK Race One 1. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 2. Chaz Davies (Duc) 3. Michael van der Mark (Yam) 4. Alvaro Bautista (Duc) 5. Leon Haslam (Kawasaki) Superpole Race 1. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 2. Alvaro Bautista (Duc) 3. Alex Lowes (Yam) 4. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kaw) 5. Leon Haslam (Kaw) Race Two 1. Alvaro Bautista (Duc) 2. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 3. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kaw) 4. Alex Lowes (Yam) 5. Leon Haslam (Kaw) IN THE WIND P44 Federico Caricasulo (64) scored a red- flagged race win in Supersport.
