(Above) PJ Jacobsen (99) won both Supersport races and now trails Bobby Fong (50) by just 10 points in the championship. (Left) Superbike points leader Toni Elias couldn't find the pace in New Jersey but still holds a 16-point lead with one round (two races) left. ROAD RACE FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 9 / SEPTEMBER 9, 2019 NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK / MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY P60 erything was a little greasy, but the Dunlops felt really good. I felt like I was able to be consistent and hit my marks every lap. That was it. Just tried to be consis- tent." "Garrett had a little pace on us in both practices this morning," Beaubier said. "We made a pretty big ride-height change going into the race. I felt pretty comfortable right away. But then I started having little problems on the front. I had a couple pretty close calls; was kind of yo-yo-ing with Garrett behind him. I got by him going into one, but way too deep. I had to try to play catch-up again. It was a tough race." Beach was happy to get on the podium. "We've struggled a little bit all year," Beach said. "I know I've gotten a win this year, but we've been off just a little bit. I think it just comes down to this is just my first year on this bike. We just couldn't get something figured out. We honestly just changed the footpegs, and the tank for race two at Pittsburgh and the bike was way better. So, I just feel good on the bike again." Elias just could not find the speed and momentum to hang with the three Yamahas ahead of him and had to settle for fourth. He had around three seconds on Westby Racing's Mathew Scholtz, the South African IIIMY OWN RACE: 11 MATHEW SCHOLTZ 5-3 SUPERBIKE "Obviously, yesterday's fi h-place result wasn't what we wanted," Mathew Scholtz said. "We were kind of hoping to at least hang onto the guys in the first five, but that wasn't the greatest, either, other than the fact that the Westby guys worked really hard and gave me a bike that was really good. This morning's warmup wasn't the greatest, but we could tell that our lap mes were really consistent. I think, at this track, you have to worry about consistency. In Sunday's race, I banged bars a couple mes with [Jake] Lewis and [Kyle] Wyman in the beginning. I got up to a third, and I could see that I was catching JD [Beach] and Cam [Beaubier], but then, they would gap me, and I'd catch back up to them and mess up. It was back and forth. Then, with eight laps to go, I was almost tucking the front in every corner, so I just had to se le for third."
