get a clean break from Daytona.
No one knows that better now
than Brad Baker. Baker put on a
brave face after consistently being the fastest rider on the Short
Track, leading the most laps of
Thursday night's race and making a thrilling last-lap effort to win
Friday's. But he came up short
both times, leaving with a pair of
runner-up finishes.
At least he earned the consolation prize of leaving with the
series points lead right? Nope.
The Daytona effect strikes once
again.
After coming so close to winning his first National only to just
miss the mark, Baker was informed after Friday night's race
that his motorcycle was protested
for an illegal fork and while retaining his second-place finish, he
was being stripped of his points
for the infraction.
So when the seashell dust settled and with the points sliced,
diced and re-tallied it was Robinson leaving Daytona as the series leader with 42 points to second place Rush with 37. Former
