ROAD RACE
FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 8 / AUGUST 23-25, 2019
PITTRACE / WAMPUM, PITTSBURGH
P90
he leaves with 25 points in hand.
Second is Mesa on 126, Gilbert
is third on 96, Wyman fourth on
90 and May fifth on 81.
Twins Cup
Alex Dumas locked down a
double victory in the two Twins
Cup races at PittRace, catapult-
ing the 16-year-old into a nine-
point championship lead with
two rounds remaining.
The French Canadian, 2018
MotoAmerica Junior Cup Cham-
pion, was utterly dominant in
Pittsburgh, taking pole position
on the Roadracing World Young
Guns Suzuki SV650 and race
one as he pressed his advan-
lost the front and tagged the
back wheel of Mesa with his
helmet, meant as long as he fin-
ished well, he'd grow a substan-
tial points lead.
He did just that, holding a
hounding Yates at bay over the
final lap to take his fifth win of
2019 with series part-timer Cory
Alexander (Ride HVMC Freeman
Racing Kawasaki) third. Fourth
went to Miles Thornton (Altus
Motorsports Suzuki) with Travis
Wyman (Weir Everywhere Rac-
ing BMW) fifth.
With two rounds left, Lee
holds a 48 point lead with 174
and can wrap the title in the next
race at New Jersey so long as
Stock 1000
PittRace's Stock 1000 single
race saw the return of a fa-
mous name when Aaron Yates'
son Ashton (Vic Fasola Racing
Yamaha) put it on pole position
ahead of Jeff May (Ameris Bank
Kawasaki) and current number
one Andrew Lee (Franklin Ar-
mory/Graves Kawasaki).
Lee would stretch out to an
early lead, but crashes for the
championship top four in May
at the first corner on lap three,
and a dramatic crash between
Michael Gilbert (Team Norris
Kawasaki) and Stefano Mesa
(Mesa 37 Racing Kawasaki) on
the same lap in which Gilbert
Andrew Lee (1)
was gifted a handy
championship lead,
but he had to work
for the win in a
head-to-head with
Ashton Yates (22).
