MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL/AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / AUGUST 24, 2019 CRAWFORDSVILLE, INDIANA / IRONMAN RACEWAY P58 BY STEVE COX PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROB KOY A dam Cianciarulo was training with famed trainer Aldon Baker when he was still racing minis. He won a boatload of amateur titles. He was set to be the next Ricky Carmichael or James Stewart. He won a few super- cross races his rookie year and was leading the points when his shoulder popped out of its socket. Since then, he's spent most of his time trying to re- turn to where he was before his shoul- ders started coming apart. Now seemingly a foot taller than he was during his rookie campaign, and after coming off yet another heart- breaking championship loss at the final supercross round of 2019, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki racer has finally achieved what he seemed to be destined for since he was a child: A professional championship. Cianciarulo is now the 2019 Lucas Oil/AMA 250cc Pro Motocross Champion. In the 450MX class, with the title decided, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac pulled clear to sit in fourth place all-time in both 450MX moto wins and overall wins, just ahead of Ricky John- son, after going 3-1 to take the overall at the finale (with a little help from the mis- fortune befalling rival Marvin Musquin, who won the opening moto and exited early in moto two with an injury). 250MX JGR/Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Rac- ing's Kyle Peters got the holeshot to start moto one over TLD/Red Bull KTM's Mitchell Falk, Ferrandis and his Yamaha teammate Justin Cooper, while points leader Cianciarulo gave chase in SIX YEARS AFTER ENTERING THE SPORT AS THE "NEXT GREAT TALENT," ADAM CIANCIARULO EARNS HIS FIRST TITLE MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
